Please note that a Register Office document, such as a birth, marriage or death certificate, can only be legalised if it is a certified copy issued by the GRO or the Register Office. Copies certified by a solicitor or a notary public cannot be legalised.

We can help you obtain an official copy of these documents and have it legalised on your behalf.

Some documents can only be legalised if they have been signed by a solicitor or notary public. If you have already had the document signed, then you will only pay for the apostille. Otherwise, we can obtain the solicitor or notary public signature on your behalf in most cases. Please visit our documents that can be legalised page for more information.

An Apostille is a certificate confirming the authenticity of the signature, the capacity in which the person signing the document has acted, and where appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the document bears. The process of obtaining an Apostille is called Legalisation.

Some examples of documents that may need an Apostille are:

  • birth, marriage and death certificates
  • extracts from commercial registers
  • patents
  • court rulings
  • notarial acts and notarial attestations of signatures
  • Certified translations of documents bearing Solicitor or Notary Public signature and seals

We have prepared a more comprehensive list of documents that can be legalised and how they have to be prepared.
